Simon Cartlidge lives in Doncaster with his partner Rebecca, Shakespeare the Newfoundland and his son Flynn. The Pomegranate Ring is his first novel although he has had poetry published in various anthologies over the years most notably The Road of Life (2001) and My Sweet Valentine (1997) but thankfully he hasn't written poetry for over a decade. He has a degree in philosophy and a Masters degree in psychology and is a qualified English and Drama teacher. He studied creative writing for two years under Tony Curtis (not THAT Tony Curtis) at Glamorgan university (Wales Poly) in the late 80s, his favourite decade. He has travelled extensively through Europe and the middle and far east. He has lived and worked on a kibbutz in Israel and lived and busked on the streets of Paris. He was made Doncaster busker of the year in 2012 an accolade of which he is extremely proud. However his main claim to fame is that he was the teacher and tutor of Louis Tomlinson with whom he remains good friends. He holds a black belt in Korean Karate and competed in strength competitions winning a bronze medal in the 2007 Sci Pro Mentor horizontal hold. He has everything Kate Bush has ever done and all the James Bond films on DVD.
